Wow...you've played the games right? The first and last images capture the atmospheric mood of the games to an exact tee...especially that last image...in the second game, you even have to walk down a mountainous road similar to the one the woman is walking on in that image to get to the town...and the sign looks very similar to the one found in that game as well... If this is done right, which its looking that way, this could kick a helleva lot of ass...however,I think I would be able to tell more if I saw a trailer...

Looks pretty sweet, I'm hoping they stay true to the games origins, and make it as creepy, if not more creepy. I'm hoping for a "scare the shit out of me" type of movie. We'll see though... I have very high hopes for this one.

Trailer is up,and it looks pretty damn good! movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808718754/trailerAnybody catch the nano second of Pyramid Head? Honestly,I'm not sure Pyramid Head being in the movie is a wise idea. The movie is based off the first game...Pyramid Head was in the second, and served a direct purpose that had nothing at all to do with anything in the first game. The shark may have been jumped, but hopefully theres more to it than whats been lead on.

Minor tiny spoilers
Being a HUGE fan of the Silent Hill series (before Fatal Frame came along, the original Silent Hill was my all time favorite horror game),I have been clamouring for a movie for years now...eventhough I know that all videogame movies have been shit (save for Mortal Kombat, which isn't saying a whole lot cause its only decent AT BEST). Well fellow film and game hounds...consider the curse officially broken.
Silent Hill was an atmospheric adventure ride from start to finish. Hell, there wer even moments where it litterally felt like the game, such as moments where an important item is found that lead Rose to her next destination. Even being an avid fan of the game series, there were some things that happened in the film that I didn't see coming (like the death of a certain important character). It did a little bit of role reversing with the story and some of its characters, but thats all fine and good with me because at least it didn't add any ridiculous new shit like The Red Queen in the Resident Evil movie. Eventhough I can't say I was all that scared from watching it (probably because it lacked the interaction element of the games),there were still some tension filled sequences (the one with the nurses was better executed than I expected)
The movie isn't without its problems though. Firstly,I kinda think that the subplot with Chris (Sean Bean) wasn't needed or could have been kept briefer than it was. I'm writting this pretty much right after seeing it,so maybe I just need to let it sink in...however,it was this subplot that lead to the biggest flaw of the entire movie...it practically gives away the ending not even at the halfway point of the film. Even if you aren't familiar with the games at all, you'll most likely be able to spot all the clues and piece together whats really going on. To be fair, its still a good if not overused ending, but it just didn't do a good enough job at concealing it.
Dispite its flaws,we need more movies based on games like this to really break the stigma of bad game to movie translations. Even if you're an avid fan of the game as I am,its still quite a good movie...and if you've never even played any of the games at all,it will probably be even better.
4/5
