Why does everyone swear by this movie? It was alright, but I never get why some people can call this the best movie ever. Night was better. I haven't seen Dawn in like 3 years and I still haven't seen the remake. But I've just been pondering this for a while.

Night was better than Dawn but my personal favorite is Day. I just have a hard time taking Dawn seriously. Its just too funny. Blue zombies, zombie children getting shot, Bikers smashing pies in zombies faces, all hilarious shit. You should check out the remake. Its a fun zombie movie with some good scenes. I definitely dont think its as bad as some might make it out to be.

I know the answer, because Dawn rules all!
It is in my opinion the true Zombie masterpiece.
Night has sonme boring moments and Day is too talky, Dawn is a big adventure.

Dawn,in my useless opinion,is a masterpiece...however,not the caliber of masterpiece that is Night.
Why is Dawn a masterpiece?
-The character development.
-The film's lengh (some people say its too long...bullshit. If Land was as long as Dawn,I guarantee people would be praising the hell out of it more than they already do).
-The overall story and the fact that it was the first Dead film to REALLY lay on the social commentary (people tried to say Night had some after the fact of this film...Night does, but barely).
-The fact that the film has a little bit of everything (horror, action, comedy, drama, etc).
-The film score (cmon, its muthafuckin Goblin people!).
-The action scenes, especially all the sequences and bits of the group clearing all the zombies out of the mall and barracading the entrances, are finely directed within an inch of their natural life.
-The gore
-The ambiguous ending
Even some of the complaints people have about it are unfounded in my view.
Too slow? Too fucking bad...get an attention span. Would you rather it move way too fast like Land did and sacrifice character development? I don't know how on earth somebody can get bored by the film with all the great action sequences in the movie anyway.
Blue zombies? So? Normally when one doesn't breathe, their skin turns blue. Even a lot of Day's zombies had blue skin...the only difference was that the zombies in Day had a detail of decay makeup
Its not the greatest zombie movie ever made like a lot of people think, but its definatly up there...
Day came damn close to being a masterpiece as well...until that lame copout "dream" ending...

I think the same thing about Dawn. Fifteen minutes of prancing around in mall...no thank you. If I want to watch that I'll go to the mall with one of my sisters. The main problem I had was that it was boring. Forget about all the underlining meanings, I just thought the movie played off realllllllly slow. And it isn't because I have a short attention span either. I love Asian horror and a lot of the gripe people have with that is that it moves too slow. I may have to check it out again. I was 15 and ditching school. I'll keep you posted.

I don't feel it moves slow at all, but there is so much that grabs my interest to keep it from getting slow..
I mean, from the intro of the movie on it pulls me in, the world is falling apart.. everything is in complete chaos.. even when it's just dialog there is so much urgency and intensity behind it. The charactors are great, and you actually care about them and want then to succeed (which is a rare thing to find in horror movies these days)..
I love the zombies aswell, there's a certain charm to the blue face.. And you must admit, even if you don't find the make up at all convincing.. the performances of many of the zombies more then make up for it.. *cough* david emge *cough*
As for the mall , it's just a great setting for a zombie flick.. Spacious yet dangerously confining at times, it serves as perfect hiding place for zombies and humans alike.. And sets up many great scenes up to and through out the final show down.
It seems I could go on for ever as to why I find it so great, alls I can say is watch the fucker again.. If you don't dig it, you don't dig it.. You can just go back to watching nightmare before christmas like the bitchass fucking fuck you are shed! ;D

Don't try to pin that sick Olsen fetish of yours on me, I mean you've already called out them as your 2nd round pick in the all-genre draft at BD.. Glad to hear you agree with my great taste thoe. ;D
