The Dead Saga-A definitive look

Basically the premise of this thread is ot come up with catagories relevent to George Romero's Dead Saga and declare which film does the best in said catagory and why. Here goes:

Best Opening:

Winner:Night hands down. Do I REALLY need to explain why? Hello?! "They're coming to get you Barbra"? The cemetary zombie?

2nd place:Day of the Dead
3rd place:Dawn of the Dead
4th place:Land of the Dead

Best Characters:

Winner:Night has this one in the bag as it has the most layered cast of characters in the entire saga. The only really dislikable ones are Barbra and Judy,but their annoying tendencies are kept to a bare minimum as characters like Ben,Cooper,Helen,and Tom outshine them.

2nd place:Day of the Dead
3rd place:Dawn of the Dead
4th place:Land of the Dead

Best Direction:

Winner:I gotta give this one to Night as well just by the mere fact that it was essentially a no budget guerilla student film...and it pulled off some absolutly wonderful things.

Best Story:

Winner:I say Dawn wins this one just by the grand scale that its premise plays itself out on.

Winner:With its ultra gritty and atmospheric black and white format,Night takes this one without any trouble at all.

Best Commentary:

Winner:This is definatly gonna cause some disagreements...but I'm going with Land on this one. Why? Just by the mere fact that its a commentary on post 9/11 America. That along with the perfect timing to be making said commentary automatically makes it the best.

Best Looking Zombies:

Winner:Day hands down. They had just the right amount of decay look to them.

Best Action Sequences:

Winner:Dawn...period. How anybody can say they get bored with this film with a straight face I'll never know. Theres plenty of action scenes and they are directed within an inch of their lives. Land could have won in this area had they kept the original supply retrieval mission from the original script.

Best Gore:

Winner:Day by a light year. The gore effects in this film are absolute brillience. The part where Torrez gets his head ripped off and his squeals gradually become high pitched like his vocal chords are being streched and ripped is fucking finesse. Seriously,how do you expect to beat that?

Best Score:

Winner:Again,Day by several miles. It just fit absolutly perfectly and even had a touch of John Carpenter vibe to it.

Winner:Like its any contest. Night wins this one with Ben,one of the most likeable characters ever.

Winner:If anybody doesn't say Night for this catagory,remind me to slap them...seriously,the ending is argubly one of the most powerful ever filmed in movie history. You cannot and will not convince me that any other ending in the Dead films is better.

When it comes to the social commentary it's really a relative to the veiwer, everyone precieves thing differently and and have there own outlook on what things mean..

1st place :Night of the living dead (fucking perfect, so much so it's hard to watch the remake do to the script changes anlthoe i stilll dig it)

Biggest Underrated Gem

1st place : Day of the Dead (until just recently no one gave day any respect, most seemed to think it was shit)
2nd Place : Land of the dead (althoe far from perfect it's no where near the shitfest many claim it to be)
