I made a post awhile back on the now apparently dead FDM forums about how I fucking hate Baseball that I could have sworn I posted here as well...but as it turns out I didn't and the post is long gone with the FDM board,so heres the sequel... Heres a comment that had me rolling in laughter... kiddcapone:This is why talking out the ass isn't a good thing... Either that,or people that find the sport SO GODDAMN BORING AND STUPID that only played it when they had to,and when they did they were rather good at it to the point of giving Baseball team members a challenge...and by "they",I really mean me...Maybe because when I was young,my whore of a mother forced me to take a 3 day Baseball clinic where they teach all sorts of game techniques, from in depth pitching techniques to how to properly slide...Knowing so much about it,I think I'm in a position to judge the merits of this sport (much like the merits of music)...Other than pitching, there really isn't any skill or strategy to this game at all. Face it,Baseball sucks...and people are finally coming to the realisation of that. Maybe thats why the last World Series TV ratings were THE LOWEST THEY"VE EVER BEEN IN HISTORY OF TELEVISED BASEBALL:www.baseball-almanac.com/ws/wstv.shtmlTake a look at the nosedive its been doing over the years...but I know that ratings don't dictate the quality of an entertainment medium such as this,so SURELY there would be many fans buying tickets to watch the games live right? Wrong...for the majority of games I've caught on TV,I'd say roughly 65-70% of the stands were FUCKING EMPTY... So why is it that its been sucking so bad on TV AND with live attendance...could it be perhaps that the sport is FUCKING BORING to watch AND play, requires the least amount of skill of ANY sport (again,I'm qualified enough to judge from experience),and argubly has the most steroid use of any of the other sports (I find this funny considering my last point)? Add to all that the fact that it JUST HAPPENS to be on during times on FOX where usually MUCH BETTER programming would be on (like say...Family Guy),and you can see why people are so fucking fed up with Baseball...Myself,and I'm sure a few others, knew well long ago how much it sucked beforehand and now everybody seems to be finally following our lead. I'll be open and honest...I don't really like sports to begin with (TV Wrestling isn't a sport,so that doesn't count),but I can at least be more entertained by Football,Hockey, and Basketball more than I can Baseball...hell,I even think Golf,Racing, and Tennis are more entertaining and require more skill than Baseball, and I normally wouldn't be caught dead watching any of those... Its boringness was even commented on and parodied on a South Park episode...what more proof do you hangers-on want? You fans that won't admit how much it sucks can cling to that sinking ship all you want...but if it keeps declining like this,it won't be around anymore...with myself and the rest of the world celebrating...

Other than pitching, there really isn't any skill or strategy to this game at all. This is where I stopped taking you seriously. No need to elaborate on this one.

Not that that's a revelation. LOL

This is where I stopped taking you seriously. No need to elaborate on this one. Ok,I'll concede that hitting the ball may have some ability in there...but not in any athletical sense...it has more to do with good timing and eyes, and there are plenty of out of shape non atheletes with good timing and eye skills...And the only way pitching has any atheletic skill is because of how fast the pitcher throws...other than that,it wouldn't have any atheletic value at all. Seriously, compare Baseball to any other sport...such as Football and Basketball to name a couple...LIGHT YEARS more atheletic ability and strategy than Baseball. But I kept going and read this. LOL..You actually think people who watch and play baseball think it sucks and won't admit it? Now where did I imply this exactly? Chances are they don't admit it sucks by virture of they like it and don't think it sucks...What was implyed was that so few people like or care about it anymore that the remaining fans look like hanger-ons... And you think baseball is going to disappear? Televised Baseball? If it continues to decline this rapidly,probably...Anything can go under if it declines rapidly enough...I never in my wildest dreams thought WCW would bottom out,but it did eventually... You sir deserve a backhand. Not that that's a revelation. LOL You deserve a backhand for liking it...and thats not a revelation at all

... I'll play... Just because you played little league for a bit doesn't make you an authority in knowing what goes on in the professional game. The majors is a thousand times more complex than what goes on in little league. Even a layman should know that. See, this shows that you're talking out of your ass and that you don't watch professional baseball. First off, hitting a baseball in the majors is the hardest thing for an athlete to do in all of the major sports. The batter has a 1/2 a second to identify if the pitch is a slider, fastball, curveball, knuckleball, screwball, changeup, sinker, cutter, etc. And then they have to hit it which is extremely difficult. Playing defense in the majors takes a hell of alot of skill. Whether it's a third baseman dealing with laser-like line drives, or a bunt where they have to charge the ball and make an accurate quick throw to get the runner out. Whether it's an outfielder having to make a diving catch or a strong accurate throw to get someone out advancing a base. Whether it's a catcher who has to scoop up balls in the dirt or when he tries to throw out a base stealer. Each position presents it's own unique challenges that require the person to have skill to play them. And it's downright laughable that some kid thinks there's no strategy in the professional game, and he knows this because he went to baseball camp when he was a child. LOL..Each time a batter comes to the plate there's strategy involved. Managers constantly are realigning their fielders depending on the batter and situation. If there are runners in scoring position a hitter would be prone to try and hit the ball the opposite way, bunt, or they could try to pull the ball or just make contact if there's a hit and run play called to help advance the runner. Managers combat this by moving the fielders around. And of course there's always the element of speed which changes everything. Managers have to call up someone from their bullpen every game. And the people they call are either lights out good, or they have good numbers against that particular batter they're facing, or it's because they're going for a righty/righty or lefty/lefty matchup. The opposing manager can defend against this by calling up their own substitute player to bat. There's more strategy involved but I don't feel like writing a books worth of material and id be wasting my time anyway since you're an authority on the professional game of baseball. You really are an idiot. The matchup was a snoozer to the majority of the country. The Astros against the White Sox, gimme a fucking break. Those aren't teams who have a strong contingent across the country like say the Cubs, Cardinals, Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Mariners, and so on. And if any sport is taking a nosedive it's basketball. Talk about ratings, they've been in the shitter for the NBA for awhile now. That's common knowledge. I take it back, you're not an idiot. You're a stupid, fucking, schmuck who is talking out of his ass. www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/business-of-baseball-report21/ I pretty much said what had to be said in my last retort. It applies to this abortion of a paragraph as well. .

Just because you played little league for a bit doesn't make you an authority in knowing what goes on in the professional game. The majors is a thousand times more complex than what goes on in little league. Even a layman should know that. Didn't say I played little league...Is your reading comprehension screwed up? I said I took part in a 3 day clinic (against my will) that was taught by members of the state's minor league team (Columbus Clippers),that at one time,Daryl Strawberry (a former PRO) played for...who are all on a level high enough to educate on PROFESSIONAL techniques and playing methods...and even on that level, the game STILL requires FAR less skill and athleticism than any other game in existence other than perhaps Golf. All that is relevent to timing and eye skills, like I said...theres nothing athletic about that...and I've most definatly watched enough professional Baseball to judge...not just on TV either. And then they have to hit it which is extremely difficult. How do you figure? Because the ball is small? I've had near professionally pitched balls thrown at me and I was able to hit them far just fine...I've never once struck out in a game of baseball...Maybe I would be good at it,but I refuse to play it anymore (didn't ever want to to begin with) because it sucks. What I got out of all that: Anything that just about anybody can properly do,athlete or not, give or take the speed and ball throwing factors, which in the big scheme don't add up to much...Most of the defense are properly placed in most of the same spots to decrease the amount of physical activity they have to do,so how exactly is it so difficult again? I know you're not going to compare running a couple hundred feet to running many yards... And the people they call are either lights out good, or they have good numbers against that particular batter they're facing, or it's because they're going for a righty/righty or lefty/lefty matchup. The opposing manager can defend against this by calling up their own substitute player to bat. You think I dont or didn't know any of this? Heres the thing... its changed in such a way that theres hardly any noticeable or significant difference that would promotr true athleticism or strategy: www.qcbaseball.com/situations/1st3rd1.aspxwww.qcbaseball.com/situations/1st3rd2.aspxwww.qcbaseball.com/situations/1st3rd3.aspxwww.qcbaseball.com/situations/1st3rd4.aspx#1:Notice how all three of the outfielders MOVE TO THE EXACT SAME SPOTS on all four defensive manuevers...at least in Football and Basketball everyone has to move to a different area AT ALL TIMES. #2:NONE of what I saw is really strategy...its more common sense...of course you're gonna try to get the lead runner out first so they don't score, thats the whole fucking point. That doesn't require strategy...all that requires is eyes to see that somebody is on third... #3:It seems to me that teams are OVER strategising, because that third alignment/move wasn't needed because they could have done the first one with the same,if not better result...so this leads me to believe that all this so called "strategy" could really be compressed into less moves...hence,LESS strategy than there already is. There's more strategy involved but I don't feel like writing a books worth of material and id be wasting my time anyway since you're an authority on the professional game of baseball In how the game itself works and most of the strategy (or lack thereof) behind it? Absolutly...and just about other sports, whether it be in athletic or strategic abilities, blow it to high hell...so much that Baseball is laughable to even be in the same realm as other sports...the only one that might require less amount of ability than Baseball is Golf...but even so,its more entertaining by a mile. I'M an idiot, yet the ratings speaks for itself...notice I said its been on a nosedive for the past few years...the last World Series was the culmination of a pretty rapid decline that WAS ALREADY going on.Its not common knowledge to me because I don't follow sports as much as other people (hardly at all)...I blatently admit being out of my element as far as sports go,but somehow STILL have no problem in proving that Baseball is shit...that says something right there...and even if the ratings for Basketball ARE down, the average attendance records pretty much blow that of the MLB away, which leads me to the next point... Gee THERES a surprise...the only two states that REALLY give a shit about Baseball anymore (New York and Massachusetts) are the top ranking in Baseball attendance...I bow to your powers of enlightenment... You want to argue imperical data? Lets do so... sports.espn.go.com/mlb/attendance?sort=home_total&year=2005&seasonType=2I'm willing to give you the Dodgers, because I manually calculated average attendance and compared it to the data given...the formula I used and the numbers given match up...I look at the complete yearly average in the link (in which I came to the same conclusion manually) and see that its 44,489 per home game, which means according to the total yearly attendance, normally only 20% of the stands are empty...which means it gets an 80%,which is the lowest B Grade range. HOWEVER...this is for the #2 ranking team in attendance ratings...and there is still a significant amount of the stands empty (barely, but still noticeable)...but now lets look at the ones that didn't fare well at all, using the same formula/data...I consider the B Grade range to be good: F Grade range:Tampa Bay Devil Rays:68% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home gamesKansas City Royals:58% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home gamesColorado Rockies:53% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home gamesToronto Blue Jays:51% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home gamesArizona Diamondbacks/Minnesota Twins:48% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home gamesCleveland Indians/Cincinnati Reds:43% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home gamesD Grade range:Pittsburgh Pirates:40% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home gameNew York Mets:39% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home gameAtlanta Braves/Detroit Tigers/Florida Marlins:37% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home gameMilwaukee Brewsers/Texas Rangers:36% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home game- Now would be a good time to point out that we have already reached the halfway point in the amount of teams in professional Baseball, and all the teams listed so far have either poor or completely shitty attendance records for the 2005 season, but lets continue anyway... - Baltimore Orioles:33% of stands were FUCKING EMPTY for average home gameI could go on and do the C grade range, but there would be no point...now that I have an EXACT estimate,I'm changing it to 30-70% of stands are empty for the average game I've caught on TV...53% of the teams in the MLB have poor or completely shitty attendance records for the 2005 season...and 13% have only so so attendance records...this means that, going by my set good criteria (B range),34% of the teams in the MLB have good attendance records for the 2005 season...34% is an F...Baseball fails. Now I'm sure you're thinking "But all sports have similar attendance records" right? Wrong: 2003 NFL Attendance Records (this is the earliest I could find) www.infoplease.com/ipsa/A0905961.htmlLegend:Team:Average Attendance/Venue Capacity - % of empty stands (Grade)Washington Redskins:80,499/91,665 - 12% of stands empty (B) New York Giants:78,620/80,062 - 2% of stands empty (A) Kansas City Chiefs:78,480/79,451 - 1% of stands empty (A) New York Jets:77,781/80,062 - 3% of stands empty (A) Denver Broncos:75,895/76,125 - If rounded off, less than 1% of stands empty (A)I could go on,but to speed things up,I'm just gonna do the 3 teams with the least amount of average attendance: Arizona Cardinals:36,062/73,273 - 51% of stands empty (F) Jacksonville Jaguars:53,509/73,000 - 27% of stands empty (C) Oakland Raiders:55,007/63,132 - 13% of stands empty (B)Now lets look at the NBA's 2003-04 season (again, earliest I could find) worst attendance teams for shits and giggles: www.infoplease.com/ipsa/A0779624.htmlAtlanta Hawks:13,798/19,445 - 29% of stands empty (C) New Orleans Hornets:14,332/18,500 - 23% of stands empty (C) Orlando Magic:14,371/17,248 - 17% of stands empty (B)Conclusion: Whatever big overall attendance record that was broken during the 2005 MLB season must have REALLY sucked ass to begin with, because OVER HALF of the teams in the league have crap attendance, while the majority of Football AND Basketball teams have GOOD attendance, even the ones with the least average attendance numbers. All this means that Baseball is quite the less popular sport which is the overall point I was trying to make...you AND Baseball lose...Talking out the ass? HA! I pretty much said what had to be said in my last retort. It applies to this abortion of a paragraph as well. And I for the most part just debunked your last retort,so what now abortion? Did I mention Baseball sucks?

Ha, there's no way i'm chopping up each section of that. I'm not that dedicated..LOL.. But i'll make some quick points. Truth be told, I was an avid basketball player, played for my high school football and baseball teams, and still play both of those sports. And baseball is more difficult to play then all of them. Football is my favorite but baseball one needs to be more skillfull. See, i'm basing this on being a die hard fan and one who plays baseball and football to this day. Basketball lost its luster for me years ago but I played it almost everyday at one point in my life. You're feelings on how baseball doesn't require skill is based on the fact you went to a 3 day clinic..LOL (yes, I understood what you wrote originally) And you even admitted to not playing sports or watching sports in general. I'm basically arguing with an internet geek, who doesn't like or play sports, on the ins ans outs of baseball. Frankly i'm ashamed of myself. The fact of the matter is baseball requires alot of skill. There's no reason for me to elaborate that point any further. And I didn't think you would be so stupid as to compare baseball and football attendance records and ratings but obviously I gave you too much credit. Each football game is way more of an event considering it's only once a week and it's a 16 game season, compared to baseball that has 4 or 5 games a week and it's a 162 game season. Football is the most popular sport, no question. But baseball is still immensely popular and it's never going to die. And I love how you made it sound like you're some natural at the game of baseball and that you never strike out. LOL...You truly are a funny motherfucker. Believe me when I tell you that if you played in one of the league hardball games I play in the summer you would strike out alot. LOL..Even if you went back to the 3 day baseball clinic you went to as a CHILD (it really is funny that you think you know everything about the game of baseball based on that experience,LOL) you still would suck immensely. Trust me you would. I mean come on now. You look as anemic, frail, and feminine as Lara Flynn Boyle. You're the ugliest chick i've ever seen. Of course you would probably lose your life or break a bone or two if you played a football game because that requires brute force. But looking at you I couldn't possibly see you getting the bat around quick enough with the heat me and my friends throw, being a limp wristed sissy and all. If you didn't know, when you play baseball with adults the ball is going to move faster and have more movement. Even more then what Fred Mcgriff or whoever was showing you in your 3-day clinic..LOL Listen, cut this up and reply till the cows come home. I'm never going to read it for i'm officially done with this board. Me getting in a sports debate with the caricature of internet geeks has made me re-evalute myself. And I don't like what I see right now,LOL...And luckily that's a real sword you're wielding there. If it wasn't you'd be a real douchebag right?..LOL

Football is my favorite but baseball one needs to be more skillfull. See, i'm basing this on being a die hard fan and one who plays baseball and football to this day. Basketball lost its luster for me years ago but I played it almost everyday at one point in my life. I've played all those the way they were supposed to be played (not just with friends or strangers in a park for fun),and still found that Baseball requires far less skill than either of those... You're feelings on how baseball doesn't require skill is based on the fact you went to a 3 day clinic..LOL (yes, I understood what you wrote originally) That was taught by those who could have very easily made it into the pros,AND even had a well known former pro PLAY for them...If it were just a bunch of high school kids on their high school baseball team or YMCA workers,I would understand how this would be completely worthless...but unfortunatly,it was real players teaching real techniques they use...and its STILL pretty much worthless, especially in comparison to most other sports. And you even admitted to not playing sports or watching sports in general. I'm basically arguing with an internet geek, who doesn't like or play sports, on the ins ans outs of baseball. Frankly i'm ashamed of myself. You could be considered an internet geek too you know...and I HAVE played a lot of sports on a technical (not recreational fun) level at one point in my life...Baseball being the one I played the most...and its STILL worthless... The fact of the matter is baseball requires alot of skill. There's no reason for me to elaborate that point any further. And I've shown that compared to just about any other sport, the amount of skill it takes is laughable...even when you already elaborated on it... That was the overall point that was being made to begin with...if Baseball is this great and wonderful sport that requires so much skill and athleticism, there would be just as many people watching it on TV or attending the games live as there would be just about any other sport...yet the amount differs GREATLY...Why? Considerably less fans because it sucks. How many games played in the season is your argument? Like that matters to even a casual fan of the sport, let alone die hard ones? If there would be more of those, the argument would hold no validity because more people would be attending and watching on TV due to enjoying it...but there aren't. Its become quite obvious that more people dislike Baseball than there are fans...and with good reason(s)...mostly it being snore inducing and having the amount of strategy of a pissing contest when compared to most other sports. And I love how you made it sound like you're some natural at the game of baseball and that you never strike out. LOL...You truly are a funny motherfucker. Believe me when I tell you that if you played in one of the league hardball games I play in the summer you would strike out alot. LOL.. Seeing as how I've been able to hit all sorts of differently pitched balls that have ranged from 70-90 MPH (I know because there was a radar),that doesn't seem too likely... Even if you went back to the 3 day baseball clinic you went to as a CHILD (it really is funny that you think you know everything about the game of baseball based on that experience,LOL) you still would suck immensely. Trust me you would. Even as a child (about 9 years old),I was STILL able to pick up and get just about every important PROFESSIONAL technique the sport had to offer...that should say something about how much real strategy it doesn't take right there...that and the fact that it was all taught in 3 mere days says a lot as well... I mean come on now. You look as anemic, frail, and feminine as Lara Flynn Boyle. Again, that should say something about how easy and non strategic the sport is...I know I'm skinny and frail (although in my case, looks can be decieving)...yet I could still properly play the game with good results...I pretty much got creamed in just about any other sport I played (ranging from football to tennis),yet had no problem playing Baseball...Care to explain that? You're the ugliest chick i've ever seen. Of course you would probably lose your life or break a bone or two if you played a football game because that requires brute force. But looking at you I couldn't possibly see you getting the bat around quick enough with the heat me and my friends throw, being a limp wristed sissy and all. If you didn't know, when you play baseball with adults the ball is going to move faster and have more movement. Even more then what Fred Mcgriff or whoever was showing you in your 3-day clinic..LOL Damn I love it whenever people try to use how I look and that animation as a personal attack whenever I've seem to have struck a nerve...tells me I'm doing a good job. So many ways to attack this... #1:Using the animation like I'm supposed to be embarrised doesn't work, yet its still done like this point has never been gotten across...but of course,I doubt this would even register with anybody that has used "LOL" as many times as you have already...in other words, try again. #2:I'm well aware of how my body is...yet was still able to be good whenever I played Baseball...Thats how much it sucks as a sport. #3:I'm ugly, but have gotten women without even showing the slightest of interest? #4:I played Football against members of my high school team, who had won the OOC Championship that year...didn't do too well, but damn sure didn't get any bones broken no matter how hard I was hit (the hardest being from a 6ft 4in 270 pounder) #5:You can tell I'm a sissy just by looking at me? Wow,those are some damn fine "not judging a book by its cover" observation skills there...and my wrists are probably more conditioned and stronger than most,as I've played percussion for MANY years...which requires strong, flexable, and endurance experienced wrists...AND arms... #6:I've played Baseball with adults...Adults in rather good shape even. Listen, cut this up and reply till the cows come home. Thanks for the permission, eventhough I really don't need or want it... I'm never going to read it for i'm officially done with this board. Me getting in a sports debate with the caricature of internet geeks has made me re-evalute myself. And I don't like what I see right now,LOL... As it should, cause you're also quite the internet geek as well...and as evident in the preceeding statement,a crybaby bitch as well, like I care that you're leaving or done with this board...If I cared about how many people posted on or read this board other than me,I would have taken it down months ago... And luckily that's a real sword you're wielding there. If it wasn't you'd be a real douchebag right?..LOL How is that relevent to me being a real douchebag? If it were fake,it be even more funny and ridiculous...but I don't have any fake plastic swords,so I had to use a real one... Using that to try to personally attack me doesn't work,as I already knew you and others would when I made it and uploaded it...to make you think you can use it to bust my chops, when my chops are unbustable...plus it has a lot of chomedy value... And whether you leave/continue to read this board or not,Baseball STILL sucks..."LOL"
