Eventhough I've still gotte get totally used to a few of the songs,I'd say Tool's pulled off another solid album...although one thing I'm really not impressed with about it is the last track...Undertow and Lateralus had "creepy freak out" endings...all Viginti Tres is is a 5 minute long Mantra...really unimpressive and doesn't really have a place or relevence...I also could have used some more tracks...waiting 5 years for 11 tracks is kind of a letdown...if it was the size of Aenima it would be a whole lot better.
I will say that Danny Carrey's drumming on this album is argubly the best of any Tool album...time will tell where this album will rank cause like I said,I've still gotta get used to some of it.

I've finally concluded that this is my least favorite Tool album. Don't get me wrong, its still quite good...but when compared to all the others,it just doesn't quite measure up. I really could have used a few more tracks.

I just thought I'd say something, even if "nobody in particular" (which I pretty much know to be a damn lie) reads it... N2NOther:So wait a minute, and feel free to correct me anytime I'm wrong on any of this...You're basing a lot of your dislike for Tool, citing that Maynard relies on cussing too much,on an EARLY Tool album (in fact, their debut LP)? Would I be correct to assume that you haven't even bothered to listen to any Tool that came afterwards? It would certainly explain many things if my assumption is correct. Being bored at a concert is one thing, while eventhough I find it extremely hard to be bored with such awsome music playing rather loudly,I can somewhat understand in their case because they tend to put on an abstractly weird and shadowy show thats not for everybody (I like it just fine though)...but making general claims like "Maynard relies on cussing too much" off of 1 EARLY album is rather presumptuous, especially if you haven't heard how they've progressed over 3 more albums, don't you think? If it's the overall complexity of Tool's music that bores you, thats cool...it's understandable considering you don't like Pink Floyd either, which Tool is pretty much the metal answer to. If it ain't your thing,it ain't your thing...Although I find it odd you like The Mars Volta, who are considered prog and have also been compared to Floyd (I find it even more strange that you don't like Led Zeppelin because of Plant's voice when Cedric Bixler's voice has definate Plant influence),I can understand this as well because I consider the band Pop Prog. For everybody else, who else has heard about this? patflannigan.blogspot.com/2006/03/fibonacci-abounds-in-tools-lateralus.html
