SPOILERS! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Man,so many ways to pick this movie apart...
-I really could have lived without seeing Kirsten Dunst singing...
-Harry getting amnesia after his first encounter with Peter as the new Goblin felt like a huge copout and a piss poor way of taking him out of the picture temporarally so Peter could deal with Sandman and all his other personal ordeals...I guess thats what happens when you add too many villians to the equation. Also,it seems as though the performance enhancers didn't have any negative effect on Harry's mind as it did his father's.
-Sandman...man oh man did they ever drop the ball with him. Barely any character development behind him whatsoever...sorry,having him being Ben's real murderer isn't enough. It was like he was just there...and for a guy who really didn't want to be a criminal,he sure had no problem doing dastardly things like say, teaming up with Venom to hold somebody hostage?
-Why is it that Spiderman only rescued Gwen Stacy, but didn't do anything about the out of control crane, which was causing the situation to begin with? That IS why he flew to that area, right?
-Why in the world did he kiss Gwen as Spiderman right in front of Mary Jane? He KNEW she had to have been watching and would have a problem with it.
-Why in the hell did it take so damn long for the symbiote to make a move and attach itself to the suit/Peter? It had to have been in his room for an estimated time of at least 2 days without even doing anything.
-Apparently the symbiote doesn't just amplify aggression...it makes one want to dance a lot and turns one into a total manwhore with an emo haircut and eyeliner...the dyed black hair I understand, but the eyeliner was just too overboard. You might think I see the dance numbers as a negative, but I kinda don't seeing as how they made me nearly fall out of my chair in laughter.
-So let me get this straight...the butler of the Osborne mansion knew from the end of Spiderman 1 all the way till towards the end of this movie that Norman died by the blades of his glider and JUST NOW said something, eventhough he knew about Harry's unhealthy obsession with wanting to kill Spiderman? Alrightie then...
-That female reporter had some atrocious dialogue...notice that Marko never once referred to himself as The Sandman nor did Spiderman or The Daily Bugle, but all the sudden towards the end of the movie that female reporter referred to Marko by that moniker? Ooops...
-Although I still liked the way Venom was handled overall,2 things didn't sit well with me. First off,at certain times,I still couldn't pretend that it wasn't TV's Eric Foreman playing the part...it's as if Grace purposefully threw in some Eric Foreman in his performance for some reason. It was especially when he uttered the line "What the hell?!" that I thought "Why the fuck is Eric Foreman in this movie again?" The other thing that bugged me was his voice when completely engulfed in the suit, meaning the black face with teeth...it could have been a shitload more imposing and cool, but all it sounded like was Eric Foreman doing his best at a deep gruffy voice.
Eventhough it seems like I'm being really hard on the movie, overall I STILL got enjoyment out of it...Marko becoming Sandman was great and the battle scenes were as good as ever (but the best was actually the one that was the least flashy...I'm talking about Harry and Peter's encounter at the Osborne mansion). However,it was still a pretty big disappointment. It seems like there is a pattern with the third entries of comic book series movies being bogged down compared to the previous movies in said series.
3.5/5
