Hot Fuzz is the new buddy action cop comedy from the brillient guys behind Spaced and Shaun of the Dead (written by star Simon Pegg and director Edgar Wright),thats currently shooting. Synopsis: Police Constable, Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is good at his job, so good in fact, he makes everyone else look bad. As a result, his superiors at the Met have decided to sweep him under the carpet. So it is that London's top cop finds himself in the sleepy West Country village of Sandford. With garden fetes and neighbourhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) an oafish but well meaning young Constable. Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates Angel into action. Convinced of foul play, Angel realises that Sandford may not be as idyllic as it seems. With his faithful new partner in tow, Angel fights to prove his instincts are correct and uncover the truth about Sandford. Is Angel simply losing his mind in the safest, sweetest village in Britain? Or is something far more sinister at work? Whatever the truth, Sandford is about to get a lot less sleepy. Site with hilarious video production blogs: www.workingtitlefilms.com/film.php?filmID=99

I have officially hit the fucking motherload... I have scored myself a downloadable good quality CAM file copy of Hot Fuzz, which is rare because most CAM files suck in quality. If you want to download it,heres where I got it from: www.totaltorrents.comA few things to take into consideration before downloading: -I tried registering my account with my gmail AND hotmail accounts, and it rejected both. I had to use my college email address before it finally let me in. -I had to download and use the Bit Tornado client because my usual client,Bit Lord,is banned from the Total Torrents site. -It's an RAR file,so you'll need the WinRAR program to extract the file. -The film is actually 121 minutes long, but the file is actually 113 minutes long. It seems to be missing a chunk of the beginning, but it starts at a point where it doesn't seem to affect the story all that much. Some of the minutes were also probably shaved due to a chunk of the end credits being taken out...don't worry,it doesn't cut any of the ending out. - Edit:Upon viewing it,I also discovered that the camera moves around to try to get the best position in the beginning moments of the film. Thankfully, this annoyance only lasts about a minute or so and it's perfectly still for the rest of the film. I think a celebration is officially in order: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WAS gonna have Smokin Aces be my last watched movie before releasing the next set of reviews, but due to these new developments,I think I'll watch The Fuzz instead...time to reap the rewards of my labor...

MINOR SPOILERS:
Man did that ever rock!
The boys have another winner on their hands. I swear these guys are the undisputed kings of clever and comedic foreshadowing. Then theres the absolutly great fuckin bits reguarding references to other films (LMAO @ Silent Rage!) that even carried over into what was going on in the story/movie itself beautifully (Bad Boys 2...thats all I'm gonna say). Character development was right on the money as well with Angle...er,I mean Angel put through the ringer mentally (you'll see where I'm getting at in about 2 months if you live in the U.S. and decide not to download it) to the point of becoming an ass stomping machine...and the relationship with Butterman (Frost) was great as well not to mention the fact that it's rather opposite of the connection the actors had in Shaun (there's even a tiny bit of homosexual undertones).
This baby isn't just about action or comedy...it also has slight clever horror elements as well (specifically, slasher films),not to mention its fair share of gory goodness (the church roof bit made my jaw drop and I personally guarantee it will do the same to you). And then theres the 3rd act...I could barely sit still in my seat with all that shootout action goodness I was witnessing (old people with heavy firepower?! LOL!). The action scenes in it were extremely well shot and put together.
Any faults? A couple actually. Eventhough I wasn't bothered by it one bit,if you're the type that found Shaun of the Dead's comedy style bland or too deep or just didn't like it,you're REALLY not gonna like how Hot Fuzz handles comedy as it is significantly deeper and low key. I'm damn sure I'm gonna have to watch it again and again cause I'm positive that I missed some shit. Also, the motive of the villian(s) became convuluted and hollow as time went by...but then again, that IS the subject of self aware ridicule in the movie...you'll either take it or leave it...I'm still undecided. Finally,I would have much prefered the movie ended on a downer note as what was hinted at. It would have added an extra layer of shocking and hard hitting tragedy to the whole affair.
Man,if I'm giving too much away,I apologise...it's REALLY hard for me to keep these things under wraps while writting this review. Is it better than Shaun of the Dead? Well,no...not quite. Is it a worthy followup? You're fuckin A right it is! In fact,I loved it so much that when it comes out here in 2 months, provided it's at the cheaper theater,I'll be catchin it on the big screen...the action packed 3rd act pratically demands it (plus I wanna give my money to these guys seeing as how they've earned it). Eventhough it's a bit premature to declare with films like Grindhouse,Spiderman 3,INLAND EMPIRE (technically a 2006 film),and Bourne Ultimatim to look forward to,I would say Hot Fuzz has a good chance of being my favorite movie of 2007.
Finely written, expertly directed, hilarious (although not as hilarious as Shaun),action packed, and at times even a little disturbing...total package...do yourself a favour...see it immediatly when it comes out if you don't download it to your computer...I LOVE Bit Torrent...
