Holy...
Fucking...
SHIT!
THIS is how you do a Final Fantasy movie. I honestly wasn't expecting much after the disappointing and lackluster The Spirits Within, but thankfully I was proven wrong...This movie kicks all sorts of ass.
It was a wonderful nostalgia trip to see these great characters again and be emersed in their story. Be warned cause this is a movie for fans of the original Final Fantasy game and those that haven't played it probably won't know what to make of this film...but you know what? Fuck em. Final Fantasy VII is one of the greatest games ever made, and if there are people that haven't played it yet,its their fucking loss as is not being able to comprehend this film.
The action sequences...sweet fucking jesus,I've never seen action sequences like these...ever. They litterally made the hairs on my arms stand up and gave me goosebumps, and thats pretty rare for me to experience when it comes to action sequences. I was jumping around in my seat during the final battle like a coked up grasshopper.
The soundtrack is utter genius. I absolutly loved the remixed use of the FF VII battle theme during Tifa's fight, and the FF VII victory sound for the cellphone was cute. The metal guitar remix of a certain major well known FF VII piece for the final battle also reeked of pure awsomeness.
Flaws? A few,but they're all minor. I felt that the three "clones",who were the villians of the film, seemingly came out of thin air. Where were they in the FF VII game? The other flaw is that for most of the movie,it only follows Tifa and Cloud (Vincent also comes in a little later)...Barrett,Yuffie,Red XIII,Cait Sith, and Cid all don't show up till past the middle of the film. I would have liked to see them earlier. I also thought it tended to jump around too much and do too much visual foreshadowing.
This movie is an absolute fucking blast...
